Sanctuary Cleaners
Sanctuary cleaners play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness, order, and reverence of the sanctuary space in the church and ensures the sanctuary is welcoming, and respectful space for worship and community gatherings.
Responsibilities
- General Cleaning: Dust and polish the pulpit areas and other surfaces.
- Floor Maintenance: Sweep, vacuum, or mop floors as appropriate.
- Glass and Fixtures: Clean windows, mirrors, and light fixtures for optimal appearance.
- Arrangement: Straightening of all chairs.
- Trash Removal: Empty waste bins and ensure no litter is left behind.
- Seasonal Tasks: May be required to assist with additional cleaning during holidays or special events, such as decorating and removing decorations.
Time Commitment: Typically 2-3 hours weekly, with flexibility based on church needs.
Sanctuary Attributes
Commitment to Reverence
- Demonstrates respect and care for the sanctuary.
- Familiar with or willing to learn appropriate cleaning practices for some settings.
Physical Capability
- Ability to perform light cleaning tasks such as dusting, vacuuming, andsweeping.
- Comfortable lifting or moving small furniture or items as needed.
Attention to Detail
- Ensures all areas are thoroughly cleaned, including hard-to-reach spots like pulpit and corners.
Discretion and Confidentiality
- Maintains privacy regarding any sensitive items or situations observed during cleaning.
Time Management and Reliability
- Punctual and consistent in fulfilling cleaning duties.
- Available during agreed-upon cleaning times (e.g., weekly or after services).
Teamwork and Communication
- Willing to coordinate with other volunteers.
- Open to receiving and acting on instructions from team coordinator.
Experience (Optional)
- Prior experience in cleaning or maintenance is a plus but not required.
