Music Team
The Music Team is a vital ministry dedicated to enhancing the worship experience through inspiring and spiritually uplifting music. By creating an atmosphere of reverence, joy, and unity, the team plays a key role in guiding the congregation into a
deeper connection with God during worship services and special events. Ministrations may include solo songs (acapella included), duets, spoken word, playing of instruments and choir ministrations.
Instrumentalists: Technical Ability
- Demonstrate competence in playing an instrument (e.g., guitar, keyboard, drums, etc.).
- Have the ability to read chord charts, sheet music, or play by ear as required.
- Maintain the instrument in good working condition and have the necessary accessories (e.g., cables, picks, stands).
Spoken word
- The ability to blend poetic expression with rhythm emotion
- Able to craft and deliver lyrics that convey themes, narratives, or social commentary, often acting as a bridge between storytelling and musical composition.
Flexibility and Adaptability
- Be comfortable with a variety of musical styles (e.g., contemporary, traditional) and the willingness to learn new songs /muscial styles.
- Adapt to spontaneous changes during rehearsals or live performances.
Experience
- Prior experience in a music team is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with sound systems, tempo coordination, and transitions is a plus.
Vocalists
- Voice Quality, Range, Ministration
- Possess good vocal control, tone, and pitch.
- Have a vocal range that can adapt to various songs and harmonies.
- Confident in ministering solo or lead choir minstrel for choir ministrations.
Team Participation
- Be able or willing to harmonise and blend well with other vocalists.
- Attend vocal training or rehearsals to ensure preparation and quality.
Commitment Expectations
Time
- Be available for weekly rehearsals, ministrations, prayer and team meetings.
- Notify the music team coordinator in advance of any schedule conflicts.
Preparation
- Attend rehearsals prepared with assigned parts and practice individual parts in advance.
- Stay informed on the setlist and any changes communicated by leaders.
Skill Level
- Possess a foundational level of musical proficiency however not compulsory.
- Be willing to improve and grow in skill through practice and mentorship.
Volunteer Attributes
- Display a positive and teachable attitude.
- Be willing to learn and develop new techniques.
- Be reliable, punctual, and consistent in attendance for rehearsals and ministrations.
- Show respect and cooperation with leader, coordinator and fellow team members.
- Be accountable for maintaining musical instruments and ensure any defects or damages are reported to the music team coordinator immediately.
