You are a Work Of Art, a True Masterpiece!

“You are loved, you are valuable, you are crafted with beauty and purpose.
I treasure you and this world needs you.
There is no one like you.
You don’t need to look like the rest or talk like the rest or be like the rest.
There is no truth in the lie that you don’t matter.
The world needs you as you are.
You were put here for a reason.
You are loved, you are not an accident, you are not a mistake” Curt Mega

Am I beautiful? Am I lovable? Would anyone ever like me?

These are questions that resonate with most of us because at some point in our lives, we’ve all asked ourselves these questions.

As I was growing up, I remember being the only black girl in my class.

My Caucasians friends, “the white girls” as I used to call them, were light skinned, had thin lips and long, lustrous, shiny, voluminous hair.

My friends would tie their hair in a long ponytail that kept on swinging long after their heads had stopped moving.

Well, as for me on the other hand, I was dark skinned, with big lips and hair that wouldn’t move even in the face of a strong wind, humph!

I still vividly remember thinking to myself, Why can’t my hair be as long as all the little girls around me? Why can’t I swing my hair as they do in the l’Oréalcommercials where the model says“because I’m worth it”?

As this wasn’t enough, to make matters even worse, anytime I went out people would point out how different I looked. My hair wasn’t silky and shiny, my nose wasn’t straight and my lips weren’t thin.

I secretly desired to look like everyone else and be like everyone else until I understood the meaning of Psalm 139:14 where David said that he was fearfully and wonderfully made.

I believe we are all fearfully and wonderfully made. You are beautiful and perfect the way you are.

You are truly loved by God, you are deeply and dearly loved by Him.

God took his time to create you and once He finished, He said it was good.

You are a true wonder, one in a billion, are rare species.

Stop looking for attention from those who don’t deserve your love, stop hating your body and anything that makes you, you.

You are not a mistake, even before skilfully putting you together, God had you in His mind and carefully thought of how you will be,for our frame was not hidden from Him.

Even before we were born, our books were already written.

Our great God, the maker of heaven and earth, the one who holds the galaxy in His hands cares about you and He’s interested in every detail of your life.

He even knows the number of hairs on your head, how amazing is that!

Embrace and celebrate your flaws and imperfections because those are the things that make you stand apart from anyone else.

You’re an original, an individual, a masterpiece. Celebrate that; don’t let your uniqueness make you shy. Don’t be someone other than the wonder you are. Every star is important to the sky.Douglas Pagels
